Decisions, Decisions

I'm getting really into photography. I just got a Nikon D80 which I am falling in love with. It's certainly not new, and I'm not a very knowledgeable photographer, but it takes damn good pictures. I love that I can just point at something and the most awe-inspiring photos come up.

Things that I love about this over my previous camera so far are it's gigantic screen, helpful viewfinder and 10.2 mega pixels.

The only negative is I am borrowing my dear friend's lens right now.

So I've decided to go out and find a lens but it isn't that easy. I come from a point-and-shoot world, where 3x to 7x is the level of my familiarity. I mean, what does 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6G ED-1F AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras mean to you?

Apparently it's a decent lens in my price range.

Who is this "dear friend" of yours? Do I know her (or him)?
